shown below, 2005 Windward Boatworks for sale, $8,500., including sails and trailer.
Detail showing the Harken Windward Sheeting main traveler car in action.
The boat has been converted to a load bearing headstay. This shot taken before the work was done.
Detail showing the Velocitek SC-1 GPS-driven compass and speedo that is included with the boat. We weren't really going that fast in the I-20. Shown here in a 125cc outboard powered 'kilo boat', after a run.
The 'Star Wars' spinnaker included with the sails for the boat: main, jib, spinnaker. The spinnaker motif matches the splashrail on this hull.
A shot of the whole rig under tow. The complete package weighs about 1,100 pounds, so one can tow an I-20 behind just about anything. The steel trailer was completely stripped by Willie Crear in the spring of 2008, sandblasted, hot dip galvanized, then reassembled with new tires and rims, new nose wheel, new wiring, new lights, and new 2 inch ball coupler. The trailer axle is a Dexter E-Z lube; bearings were replaced in 2010, and are repacked every fall. Note the high forward mast bunk, so that the excess spar hangs out over the towing vehicle, not sticking out behind. This shot was taken Spring 2009, at the start of the foil rudder experiments.
Color: White hull, white deck
Mast: Carbon by Ted Van Dusen
Compass: Velocitek SC-1, mounted aft side of spar
Key extra gear: Harken windward sheeting main traveler car. If you haven’t fitted one of these yet, you haven’t lived.
Re-weighed at ILYA Champs, and still carrying 20 pounds of lead.
Standing, running rigging: like new or replaced since I have owned the boat. All of the Spectra was replaced spring of 2009, just as a preventive measure.
Sails: 2005 Quantum main, 2005 Quantum trademark ‘star’ spinnaker (matches the splashrail), 2000? Quantum Mylar/Kevlar jib.
Trailer: Custom trailer completely stripped by me in 2008, sandblasted, hot dip galvanized, new wheels, new tires, new nose wheel, new wiring, new lights, and new safety chains. E-Z lube Dexter axle. Wide stance, 5 foot wide frame, not 4. This looks like a new trailer.
Covers: Harken all-deck cover new with boat, unused since 2007 as I store the boat in my lower level between races. Used but serviceable over-the-road bottom diaper.First place finishes at the Spring Flings in 2007, 2009, and 2010. Second more times than I care to count.
Owner is Willie Crear; contact information is below.
